i have a 17 gallon tank with lighting just in the middle

(meaning parts of light dosnt reach the corners that much )

i was wondering if there are plants that dont need too much lighting that you know about

or if someone could send me a link to a good aquarium plants information site...?

the plastic is covering all the sides exebt there is a beam (rather large)
of light that is passes through the water

this pic is a quick scetch i just did (i know its not picasso) but its mainly how it looks

the lighting dosnt really come to the sides

im sorry the pic isnt posting

nvm that.... but you get the point

haha it seemed as if you were doing a song or something!

so it's recessed into the plastic effectively?

_____I O I_____

imagine the O is the light

you could perhaps get some mylar and make a curve on the inside of the recess? that would allow more of your light to be aimed towards the plants instead of being absorbed by the hood.

do you have plants in your tank and are just not taking OR are you looking to plant your tank?

17g isn't that bad. i've a 12g. umm as for plants i've got no real suggestions as i'm still new (hence my basic questions)

what set up do you have? any co2 addition? any fertilisation? watts per gallon etc?

i'd definitely look into getting a reflector in the hood though. half of the energy from the bulb will be lost otherwise.
