I have tried to feed my Cory's today I put a sinking pellet in but it was set upon by the five banded barbs one of the pandas got to eat from this as it thinks it's part of the group and they have accepted him. The problem is the other 5 did not get to eat any. So I was wondering what and how do you feed your panda Cory's thanks for all the help from Tom

Corys need a high protein diet, bloodworm, brine shrimp etc plus a good catfish pellet.
Try feeding your other fish at one end of the tank & the corys at the other, you can use a turkey baster to get it to the bottom quickly

get sinking shrimp pellets.. turn off the light and drop them in, wait a few before turning on the light and boom the food will be at the bottom and the cories will get it.

Thank you for this advice. I have frozen bloodworm, brine shrimp, cyclops and daphina will they eat all of those or just the brine shrimp and bloodworm. Also I saw on here about a way your suppose to feed frozen food to fish and I can't find the topic again I just stick the frozen block straight in the tank is this the right way to do it. Also what shrimp pellets do you use for your Cory's and in my LFS they give them some orange and white powder thing does anyone know what this could be from Tom

Defrost the frozen food in a cup with some tank water before you feed, they'll eat all those you've got
I used New era catfish pellets & tetra tabimin.

You'll want to give them more than just one pellet. I'm not sure if it's right or not but I give each of my cories 1 shrimp pellet.
Definitely try feeding the other fish on one side & feeding the cories on the other.
Another thing you may try is feeding them a bit after lights out.

Ok I put in a little bit of flakes for the honey gouramis and the barbs but all the fish seem to like the pellets more and I only put 3 pellets in for the barbs, gourami, apistogramma and Cory's so might need to increase my feeding and it would explain why I never see any leftover food maybe I'm not feeding enough how much should I feed. Also when I feed frozen food I do 2 cubes between 23 fish is that to much or to little or just right and thanks for all your help from Tom

Its a bit of trial and error really and what works for you.

I feed mine at the same time as the fish but before, when they were less confident I waited for lights out to drop in Catfish pellets, when the other fish are still.
I also would feed them in the same place everyday.

I found that putting the pellets under my java moss cocnut shell - where the PC's hang out worked too if you have the equivalent. Also meant submerging my hand.

They tend to sweep up any flakes that drop to the bottom as well as their pellets.

I feed all my fish bloodworm etc too.

Thanks for all the advice I tried bloodworms today I have never seen the look of disgust on a fishes face before today but they did not like them. I think now that I have taken the 10 five banded barbs back and the tank has a lot more quieter fish in that the pandas will get to eat. I have seen some eating the pellets I put in. Also do they use eyesight to see there food or those barbels because I tried putting the pellets in when the lights went out and I saw the pandas swimming but they did not go towards the pellets. Also am I feed my tank the right quantity of food.

Now that I have removed all the five banded barbs from the tank and replaced them with the less active and more calm neon tetras the pandas can actually eat the pellets I'm putting in for them I am giving them 3 pellets between 10 pandas so I hope this is the right quantity for that many fish from Tom

Feeding fish the right amount can be very tricky!

If you work on the principle that a fish's stomach is the same size as its eye, and it needs roughly that amount daily, you should be able to make an estimate of how much to feed.

I would keep trying them with the bloodworm (although it's not nutritious enough to be a staple diet); very often it takes fish a while to recognise something as food if they haven't seen it before.

Ok I will give them another go on the bloodworms and if they don't eat them I'm sure the apistos, honey and neons will anyway and thanks for the information on amount to feed and I think I'm feeding mine just about right but maybe a little bit more than I should but I do regular cleaning so it's never a problem from Tom

Tried them on bloodworms today and they ate them which is good but they did not go crazy for them so maybe there favourite is other live/frozen food and I feed mine tetra wafer mix. Is that a good pellet for pandas as that's what I fed my pleco on and on the packet it says suitable for all bottom feeding fish from Tom

Variation is most important. Great part meaty and a small part algae/vegs. I use small granulate food as well that floats / divides for some time and then sinks divided to the bottom. Advantage : food is all over the bottom and not at one place only !!!

Cheers Aad

What are the granules that you use and I do about half and half meat and veg so should I increase the meat side and decrease the veg.
