What A Wonderful Start To A Morning...

Bloody hell! :/
That's my worst nightmare. Sorry to hear about your fish! Good luck with the new setup.

A bit off topic, but we sound fairly similar - I'm in year 12 and on the Sunshine Coast, QLD. And my mum sounds exactly like your dad. She's very, very stubborn. Adults and their underestimations :p

LOL Beany bot we aren't in drought anymore, waters restrictions are long gone. Besides that those restrictions don't apply to us, we collect our own water, we use it how we want.

i know this is a from a lil bit ago and im sorry you lost your fishes and your dads a jerk, but i was curious as to what kinds of things could cause something like this to happen? when i was reading the story my stomach dropped ( i just got my 55 gallon tank) does anyone have any preventitive tips?

Ummm shoddy workmanship. The front piece entirely separated from the side, theres nothing you can really do to prevent it, it's not meant to happen, and only happens rarely. Banging a tank, carrying a tank with anything in the base 9water, gravel etc) can all weaken the silicon seams, leaving it to dry out after being filled with water for a time has apparently caused a few leaks, but not sure if thats true.

Haha im in melbourne and i always wonder how my local aquarium fills theirs up. their water bill must be massive. I always feel bad doing regualr water changes in my 3ft and 4ft because of our stage4 restrictions. But then i love my fish so I get over it. They need clean water too. I always freak when my partner jumps up and down near the tanks. We have floor boards and im waiting for him to do it one to many times and it to wobble off :\

he would be up for over $2500 if he broke them...and years of feeling guilty.

I would have to fit all my fishies in a lil 32ltr!!

Omg ,
that's one of my nightmares.
im 13. i live in adelaide. and i own a 2 and a half ft by 1 and a half ft tank.
gee, i have no idea what i would do if i woke up and
saw my fish tank tipped over with water over the floor and the fish nearly died.
i would Panic!
im so sorry what happened to you.
are your fishes ok?
oxox

My worst nightmare too. I am so bad I awake in the middle of the night and have to go check my tanks !

I suppose the fact that the tank didn't have a center brace contributed to it.

Scary

Yah though since the glass was 12mm thick, I wasn't worried about having no center brace, but oh well live and learn.

The old tank I'm going to be pulling apart, cutting up and using to build a marine nano tank, so it's not that bad. It also helped that the tank was right near the door when it crarcked, all the water just went rushing out that way onto the garden

Truthfully that sounds like what is going to happen to my 20gal :look:. The front seals are really bad and I don't know why. I can't fix it till summer, so hopefully it will stay water tight till then. *crosses fingers*
