the local shop was out of the frozen fish food cubes ( I usually keep brine shrimp an blood worms in the freezer for food rotation ) what the shop had was frozen sheets of blood worms, about the size of a normal sheet of paper, and 1/4 inch thick, in a heavy zip lock package... breaking the sheets up into pieces wasn't that bad, but I expect moisture was in the zip lock, before it was frozen, and this made the "easy open package worthless... both Mrs. with her finger nails, and I with my ham fists , could not get it open, I had to cut it open with a scissors, and put it in a different zip bag... these packaging people must never use their own products, I eat a lot of nuts, and they started coming in zip bags, and either you can't get them open in the 1st place, or you can't get them to seal afterwards... if I need to provide my own packaging, they could greatly reduce waste, by heat sealing their package and not having a worthless zipper added...

Most companies that use ziplock bags for food will heat seal the end to stop people tampering with the product. I just use a pair of scissors to cut the packet open at the end and then use their ziplock seal. If it's a crappy one and doesn't work properly, I put the stuff in a plastic container of another ziplock bag like you are doing.

I actually like the large slabs of blood worms, mysids, and brine shrimp. But I have not bought any of those lately. I wish there was a Spirulina-filled brine shrimp, but there isn’t on slabs. The little blíster packs are a rip-off but there is where I am now. I know I can order slabs but it becomes a big order to make it worth it. That is one thing that it is best to order during the fall and winter months.

it's about the only thing I buy at the local pet store... so with frozen foods I do my part to keep the doors open
