Lucky the green platy has reproduced! I count 4 fry. I think her mate is an orange guy so they are hybrids of some sort. My question is.... ok now what... What do you folks do with the young ones? This tank was to a plant tank where I could raise some anacharis during the winter months. I found a fry in the forest preserve tank that I maintain and took him home. I felt he was lonely so got hima few friends... Lucky and Orange Julus formed a bond and then Lucky hid out for a few days and the rest is history. Can I give them to a pet shop maybe? Thanks in advance.

Can I give them to a pet shop maybe?
You will have to wait until they are at least 2 months old before you can give them to your pet store because they won't take immature platys.
Have you heard of net breeders? If you have or havent you should go to your pet store and buy one for the fry, this will keep them separate from the other fish and it just goes in your tank.
So unless you want them to be eaten your going to have to wait at least 2 months maybe it is 1 month untill you can give them to your pet store. :p

Be sure and read the pinned topics (on the top half of the Common Livebearers forum). You'll find lots of useful information on keeping your baby fish happy. Platies grow quickly, but it will be a while before the pet store will take them.

Cheers,

Neale
