I just noticed a female guppy was missing ... started searching for her and eventually noticed something lying in one of the plants.
Got my net in there ... one very dead, decomposing/starting to get eaten guppy ...

I've no idea, bit hard to tell and I didn't want to examine her body ... I kind of did the girl thing and carried the net at arms length to the bin, upended it, tapped it firmly on the edge and shut the lid

That's the first one I've had that I'd not noticed was missing for ... possibly days

I think it would be best do do a fairly large water change now and check your levels of ammonia/nitrItes

Yes a partial wc wouldn't go amiss tomorrow, just to freshen it up a bit.

Could've been anything, you should know by now that fish can just snuff it for seemingly no reason!

I'll check it tomorrow in the daylight - electric light means false reading. All the others are fine. She was fully grown when I got her so it probably just her time to go. All my guppies are looking old now. One of the males has lost loads of weight, the other is swimming as if his tail is too heavy - I'm guessing they'll be next.

It happens I guess .. i just don't like the fact that I didn't notice. I think she was there at the weekend when I did my general maintenace but I can't be certain.

I'll do a w/c tomorrow to be on the safe side ... I did notice when I had the lid up that the tank is getting that established tank smell. It's the first time I've noticed it so I'm hoping that means the new filter is starting to cycle

umm ... well lets just say female guppy in with 3 males ... I think I can safely say yes she was ... havn't seen any fry though

water checks are PH-6.6. Ammonia-0. Nitrite-0. Nitrate about 5

I'm presuming the guppy hadn't been dead as long as it looked seen as that lot are fine. I'm not up to a water change today as I'm not feeling very well at all. I'm just going to leave things alone until the weekend and keep an eye on the guppies. I've spotted a few fish flicking themselves the last few days but there's no sign of any white spots ... thinking it could be stress which is why I'm not going to change water and stress them further.
