I have been having some temperature fluctuations so I called Aquarium Pharmacuticals yesterday about my Rena Cal Top Light heater. I had never taken the step of putting it in the tank and letting it sit to adjust to the tank before plugging it in. I just plugged it right in. :/

So, they tell me to unplug it and let it sit for 15 to 30 minutes and plug it back in.

That was about 4:30PM MST yesterday. Well, I unplugged it after getting off the phone, then forgot.

I was looking at the tank this morning thinking that didn't fix it since the temp was down to 68 and went to look at the heater. I was going to move another heater into it or take this one back and get a new one. Well the heater wasn't on and suddenly I realized what I had done.

So, I plugged the heater back in. I haven't lost any fish, but I just realized that this is what you do to breed corys.

If the fish don't get all the eggs I may have cory fry soon. :/

68's a big drop if it was in the hi 70's. However, it's best to get the temperature to the right temperature rather than increase the temperature a little at a time.

Invest in multiple heaters in case one fails...

Oh, I have a 250 and a 200 coming and I'm intending to buy a few spares eventually. With 6 tanks I want to have a couple of spares on hand. ;)

It was running 75 yesterday, so it wasn't that bad. All the fish look okay, almost as if they didn't care.

I'm just worried about the cories because I was going to move them and breed them next week.

Guess I will have to wait a month now. -_-
