Hello everyone,

my name is Isadorala, 21 and I've just started my first tank on my own (can remember looking at the pretty fishes in my dad's tank when I was little though).

Next to some fish in the future, I have 2 lovely Welsh Springer Spaniels and there's some budgies at home too. (As well as a few fish in the pond and the odd frog)

My dad gave me a 30L biorb tank for my student-flat for Christmas and I've just dared to set it up.

( I do have a question if anybody knows, I have a 'superfish air kit mini' and the bubbles are really tiny so I'm wondering what I did wrong? unless they get stronger over time? )

Any questions you have for me, just ask

Can't help you with the question on the bubbles though I'm afraid. Hopefully someone else can, but you might want to start another thread in the Hardware section specifically for it.

Welcome.

Low bubbles could be a few things. Blocked valves, blocked airstone or a kinked or leaking airline. If I remember correctly, which I may not as I have played with a biorb in ages, their stock pump is slightly more powerful than the one you're using as well.

Yeah, like DrRob says its most probably the airstone I reckon, the new pumps are only about £6 on ebay and an airstone about £1, even if you need airline its pretty cheap

Hi thanks for the welcomes people,

well, after checking the tubing with another pump that was fine.
So my boyfriend was kind enough to take the pump apart (well, undo 1 screw ) and we found that the suction cup wasn't closing properly.
It's working fine now it's glued together.

(Incidentally, he now is setting up his own tank as well )

I've heard a few bad things about biorbs, but don't see why they can't be great tanks if cared for properly! Good luck on your fish keeping adventure!
