I've been working on my tank, which is a 10 gallon one with an internal power filter. I recently added snails (two mystery snails) and live plants to it and hope to eventually create a betta sorority (I had a similar set-up in college). I'm a little leery of adding fish now because with the two snails and plants came about 4-5 mini snails which I don't want over-running my tank and eating all my plants. Additionally, there are these weird, twitchy, white thread-critters that I just noticed last night. They're a bit creepy and I have no idea what they are or where they came from. They are about a centimeter long and no wider than a piece of thread. Can anyone give me any ideas? Are they parasitic to the snails, the fish, or me (since I occasionally reach in to fix a plant or what-not)? Can someone give me some advice on getting rid of the thread-critters and keeping the snails from going nuts in my tank?

Thanks!

Thank you! I'll check out those links. Sorry for not checking to see if the question had been asked. I didn't realize the little white thread guys were so common! I've had various tank set ups in the last 7 years or so and never seen them! Maybe because this is my first time with real plants.
