Today at my LFS they had just gotten in their weekly shipment of fish (funny how I am always there the day the ne fish come in :p). They had a tank of red swordies, male and female. I had a look at them and noticed something weird but couldn't figure it out. Then I realised that they all had red/pink eyes. It was like the eyes of an albino fish but with normal red finnage of a swordy (if that makes sense).....all new fish aren't available for sale until the day after they arrive in the shop.

Has anyone else seen this?

Should I go back and buy one to give you guys pictures? (it could be educational for us all :p....not for my benefit of course )

No its completely normal, just another one of the many colors livebearers can have their eyes in- most of the platys i have had in the past have had blue eyes, but the ones i have currently have white or black ones. One of my female mollys has pure black one with 2 silver spots while the other has grey ones- im sure it is no different for swordtails either :)

Yes I've had 3 of them. They are frequently referred to as "red-eyed reds". I've had some interesting fry out of them including "albino pineapples". Get a few if you can! The ones I've seen have been pretty healthy as well.
