My boy spooky lives in a 5 gal with 2 white cloud minnows and a ADF. He's an awesome little fish, favorite betta I've ever had. But over time (got him at the end of last summer), his stomach seems to be growing out to the sides. It almost looks like he has a tumor on either side of him, one side is a little larger than the other. He's been laying on one side on the bottom of his tank a lot (sometimes right on top of the frog, lol). He stil gets really excited and swims to the top of the tank whenever I walk by, but he seems too lazy the rest of the time.

Any ideas of what his problem is and how I could fix it?

I had one with tumors and he went on with them for about 5 months. I lowered his water level way down and he kind of scooted along the bottom still in his happy old way. You might give him some shelled peas to make sure he's not just constipated. Doesn't sound like it but wouldn't hurt anything either. I kept mine in a higher temp after he got those. He had a happy life and even ate the very day he died. I put some hedge plants in so he could pull himself up in them and rest. I suspect he might have just been old. Good luck and keep us posted!
