Weird Movements

So I got some platies and they seem to be sliding their bodies (more like its the belly that they are using to slide on) onto my plants but they dont slide their body onto the glass. I'm not sure what it is or anything. Does anyone know what this movement is?

It's called flashing. Could be a sign of water quality issues or Ich, or they could be just trying to scrape up some food. You just might want to check your water parameters.

They seem to be fine and only seem to do it like 2 or 3 times (just one platy and rarely the molly). I have not lost any fish yet.

Have you tested your water lately? If everything checks out, especially ammonia,nitrite,nitrate, then you are probably fine.
