Weird Gray Monsters

I have little bitty salt sized gray dots on my drift wood and some plastic plants. They move like "mites" and are about that size. What are they, and will they hurt anything? The fish are fine and seem uninterested in them.

No clue what they could be.... maybe some kind of freshwater limpet?

You can get mites in a tank.

maybe its that then, by the sounds of it, mites would be a possiblity as there are lots of them
