Hey guys!

I have a black worm culture that’s been running for a while. I’ve had the filter turned off for the past couple months, the numbers haven’t been depleting. Today I noticed while feeding my fish a bunch of little creatures that are moving around and very fast and frantic. Never cultured daphnia and that’s what I assume they’d look like. Very small, round, and definitely not planaria, leeches or any worm-like parasite. Since the tank water has been stagnant, and been occasionally chucking left over fish food in the black worm tank. Any thoughts on what the little creatures could be? And should I worry? Or even feed them to my smaller fish? Thanks in advance!

It's hard to say what they are from the description. I wouldn't worry, but I would explore feeding them to fish. The dangerous creatures arrive as eggs, and adult bugs, if they aren't large predatory water beetles or dragon fly larvae, are pretty good food overall.

I hope an Australian can check in though, as we live with radically different fauna. I have to keep Sasquatches out of my tanks and you have to worry about scuba drop bears.
