Did you know that the weekend feeders in the shapes of piramids, shells, etc. are mostly made up of plaster of Paris? Also most of the food that is mixed in it are only available to bottom feeders.
I use to buy them but now that I know this, I'll never buy them again. (learned form a fish magazine)

I said sometimes. If its just for the weekend, I dont usually. If I go away for a week or longer, I put some in when I leave and have someone come over halfway through the week and put more in. I know the fish can go without it, but it's better than nothing.

That plaster sounds nasty... but I figure if it wasn't safe for the fish they wouldn't sell it.

I never really liked those piramid feeders. I remember when I use to have Goldfishes and Tetras (4yrs ago) I would put the piramids in and they would just make bubbles :dunno: . I don't even think they function correctly, because I would put them in and some would stay at the top and never sink and some would go to the bottom and just make bubbles. Only once in awhile they would dispense the food. Maybe they have changed over the years? I dunno.

No! Never, they are not made of quality feed, I'm not there to see who's eating and who's not, I've heard some pretty bad things about them. I leave my fish every weekend on their own (they are in classrooms) and I think it does them more good then harm.
