Weekend Disaster

Had my first fishkeeping disaster this weekend.

Was away camping,left early saturday morning and came home late on Sunday night.

I noticed the kids tank looked a bit cloudy,so switched on the light and as i went to investigate i noticed the glass was hot,checked temp and it was sitting at 45c

Obviously everything in the tank was dead,to the point that not one fish was complete,they had obviously just cooked and started to disintegrate,my poor 9 year old daughter is absolutely devastated.

Lost 5 black widow tetras,5 white widow tetras,5 phantom tetras and a red marble plec.I feel so guilty as they must have suffered.

Cleaning out the tank was absolutely disgusting.

How did the tank get to such of a high tempature?

Sounds like your heater went faulty, shame really sorry to hear that,its a royal pain down there

Yea the heater failed,only good thing is that it happened on one of the smaller tanks and not the big ones.

Oh poor kid to see that, horrible.

RIP little fishies.

Give it a good clean up, keep the filter running with some fish food or ammonia for a few days, test the water and treat her to some new fish.

That is why I don't run heaters in the summer!

I'm so sorry about your fish, and your little one having to see that.

Faulty equiptment has hit us all at some point and it is beyond annoying and costly.
