My dominant female Moba Zaire frontosa is holding. Recently I moved the other female because I believed she was holding, but in a few days she started spitting rocks at the glass and ate ravenously when I fed her. LOL
The female that was breeding would hold to release and gave me several nice spawns. She recently fell prey to a rock.
The 2nd female that bred snuck up on me and held to term in the main tank and only one of her spawn survived. She is the one I tried to move this time. I may have moved her before she actually spawned. I don't know. I didn't try to see for sure if she was holding.
But while she was out of the tank, my Big Daddy Mo courted the dominant female--the 3rd lady-- and they spawned. They actually treated me to several hours of watching them before I had to go to bed.
I have decided to leave her a little longer before I move her. She has a mouth full and appears to be breathing through some through her mouth. It looks for all like she is panting. She appears to be doing a good job and still dominates the other female.
I do have S. multis in the tank. They pestered the couple unrelentingly. I suppose there is a possibility that they may have snuck some eggs in.
Will the multis cause her to have to release sooner if they managed to spawn too? So far there have not been any new multis since I have been blessed with front spawns (2 1/5 years--maybe.) How long does it take for the front eggs to mature? How long will she hold before releasing?
I do like letting the lady hold and release and even mother the fry some. The second lady would drop food for her fry. Since these are wild caught they were parented and it just seems like if the fry have some natural parenting, they will be better parents.
Any information will be appreciated. Sorry for the book.
I am a little too verbal.
