Hi,
I'm in the process of setting up a 65 gallon tank (48x18x21). I would like it to be a low tech planted tank with around 1.5-2.0 watts/gallon.
i have two 38w 42" long bulbs so this gives me a ratio of 1.16w/g
Does fitting reflectors increase this or will I need another light unit?
Hope someone can advise

you might be able to get away with some low light plants with that lighting. reflectors help some but you should add more lighting.

The WPG 'rule' assumes you have reflectors added so if you don't then the WPG of your tank will actually be lower.

For a 65g I would aim for around 1.5Wpg if you are able, any higher and you are into Co2 territory IMHO. Dont forget to get plant tubes for the lights as well :)
