My tanks is like 75% covered with a murky green cloud.

I have co2, good lighting , I fert the plants, i have some fast growers...i have like 35+ plants in a 30 gallon tank, I do a weekly 50% water change
so wat gives?

I think i have too many fish....6 barbs, 3 rummy noses, 1 plec, otto, 5 cories and my filter cant handle the nitrate or something...I should put some carbon in the filter to take out the discoloration , I guess

I have just ordered a sterilizer and a new filter...eheim canister to see if that works.

Green water can be a sod to get rid off, the easiest and most effective way it a UV, so when yours arrives set it up ASAP and then wait ;)

Don't add carbon to the filter that could likely affect the growth of your plants by removing iron and other trace elements from the water.

What lighting setup do you have and how long are your lights on for each day?

Do you monitor the CO2 levels in your tank?

I must have 200+ stems of fast growing plants in my 30USG tank, and maybe only now after six weeks do I feel I am getting on top of the various types of algae in there.

My UV steriliser has been running for approximately four days, and for the first time ever the water I took out for a water change was crystal clear. It should clear your water, but not resolve why you got this algal bloom.

P.S. Regarding your stock levels, your Oto might want some company.

I used to have more stems , I pulled them out and put in some amazons....When i had the stems it was still cloudy, although it cleared up when i still had the anarcharis in...crap

You could try a lower lighting period but without the gap.

I had 5-on, 2-off, 5-on and major algae issues. 7.5 hours solid on and far less of an issue but plants are still growing like nutters!
