100 litres of water.
From my fish tank.
ON THE CARPET!!!!
Yesterday afternoon while I was at work, the output hosing from my Fluval 204 filter (which runs on my 30gal tank) decided to rupture. I got a phone call from the BF telling me the "news". We were SOOOO busy last night that I couldn't leave. He had to move the desk, the fish tanks and stand, the bookshelf, the dining table. I wish he had taken a photo of it since by the time I got home (3 hours after he rang) he had soaked most of it up with towels.
Being the paranoid soul that I am I wanted to make sure that ALL the water was gone from underneath the carpet....since carpet will go mouldy and rot if water is left in it.....I called carpet cleaning people to come and suck the water out....we had done the twel thing with the water overnight but it still seemed wet. So the only people that could come today had a dodgy looking ad.....
BUT....they assured us that there was no residual water under the carpet....using some electronic device. Normally they would charge $90 to repair damaged carpets....since they didn't need repairing they suggested a clean to get the fish water smell from the carpet (which wasn't too bad since I had done a gravel switch the day before and a 100% water change). So they charged $85 to clean the whole room (carpet) and now the carpet looks beautiful!!! They even gave us the pet stain spray stuff since most of the stains we had were from the animals
After all that was done we decided to do a rearrange since the 30gal was as good as empty (like 20L left) and the furniture was all in the garage. So now I have a rearranged fish tank....a rearranged house and CLEAN CARPETS......AND....no more Fluval filter. Having lost my faith in filters with tubing I am now going to be using either HOB filters or internal filters. Which means that the Eheim will be going from the 75gal tank. actually it has allready been detached.
So I always try to look on the positive side:
1. The carpet is the cleanest it has been---at a good price!!
2. My fish tank looks nicer after a lot of rearranging
3. The house rearranged looks a lot better (and I can see my fish easier where the tank is now)
4. THANK GOODNESS it wasn't the 75gal tank or I would have shot myself.
5. Due to the rearrangement I have a lot more room on my desk
