I have an API Freshwater Test Kit, what should safe readings for PH, Ammonia, Nitrite and Nitrate be

PH depends on what fish your keeping.
Ammonia 0
Nitrite 0
Nitrate below 40 to 30PPM the lower the better.

Hi Malawy MaD, my PH is 7.6 I am a newbie and only have 4 tetra silver tips in my tank, and have no idea how to reduce the PH?

i wouldnt try reducing it as a non fluctuating pH is much better and safer for your fish. most fish will tolerate a pH of 7.6 so dont worry too much :good:

Agree with matt, id leave well alone if you decided you wanted species that preferred more acid water, then id advice lowering the PH but its fine as it is :good:

ive kept discus, tetra, corys and all sorts of apparent acidic loving fish in my tap water very successfully even breeding the corys and angels at one time. i currently keep rays and wild angels with no issues so dont be put off just acclimatise them well before adding them to the tank :good:
