Just tested water

Ammonia 0

ph 7.5

nitrate 0.3

nitrite 0.1

Seems ok from what I have read any ideas ?

Up to now 6 Danio three of each type,6 black line tetras,6 red mouthed tetras.

The Girls want an angel fish ? But I was thinking of a bottom dweller B-)

Three out of six of my Ruby nose tetras have died the Black neons are going well?
Is the ph too high for these fish or just hard to keep, gutted ?

What kind of water tests are you using? It's just that for mine (the API master test kit), the nitrate is measured in ppm and only goes in increments of 5 or 10. So, 0, 5, 10, 20, 30, etc. Not that nitrates will necessarily be a problem, but just in case that was actually the nitrite readings, or your test kit is not something that would normally be recommended, etc.

Nutrafin test kit, mini master thanks for the reply,my name is Jamie by the way.

I may do another test tonight to see if there has been any change ?

Just retested

PH 7

ammonia 0

Nitrate 10

Nitrite 0.3

Your nitrite reading is too high with fish in the tank, it needs to be under 0.25. Looking back at your other posts, it seems as though you are doing a fish-in cycle. You need to do a big water change to get that nitrite down to zero, and them more as and when necessary to keep the reading below 0.25.

Water changed last night checked Nitrite tonight and its lowered slightly will keep and eye on it and may change water again soon to lower it again .

My kit only goes down to 0.1 on the scale colour match on back of leaflet, i think does the water in the test kit go clear instead of light purple/pink if its zero nitrite??

My kit only goes down to 10 on the cale i think does the water in the test kit go clear instead of light purple/pink if its zero nitrite??

You have me confused, your nitrite test only measures down to 10? Most of them don't go up that high for nitrite. Nitrate usually goes up in big jumps like that - you're not mixing them up are you? or did you mean 0.1 instead of 10?

You really want to get the nitrite down to zero, ASAP.
