Hi all,

This may sound odd, but do Kuhlis change their colour patterns if stressed? In this case, heat stressed.

The reason why I am asking is this: my 1' x 1' x 15", 83 litre tank has had it's heater set to 25ºc ever since I set it up this time last year. And I bought some nice, plump kuhlis to go in it - and when I got them, they looked like this (nice, even brown and orange barred):

A few days after they were added to the tank, their colour patterns started to change and they then all started to look like this (brown and orange barred but with pink blotches developing):

A couple of weeks ago, I decreased the temperature of the heater to 23ºc (after reading that my tank temperature was probably a bit too high - esp. for the danios) and lo-and-behold, the kuhlis colouration is returning to normal!!

Any ideas anyone? And is 23ºc a reasonable temperature for a tank of this size?

my tank temp is always 26c and my zebra danios are in full color. danio temps are between 18-24c. mine seem to thrive at 26, which is my plecos temp :)
