Water Still Cloudy

I am near the end of cycling, and though the bacteria bloom is gone, my water is still cloudy! Instead of a bacteria bloom, I now have weird particles floating about in the water. No idea where they could be from, I cleaned my sand and gravel before placing it in, and I have no decoractions except some bogwood. They look like tiny sand particles, but after 5 weeks of cycling shouldn't they have settled by now? Water changes aren't helping. Anything I can do?

You could add some micro floss to your filter to trap the small particles

My filters pretty full, two cartrgies and a media bag full of sintered glass and carbon....theres hardly any room for the water itself.

sounds like your over filled then and your filter isn't doing its job so well?

Where did you get your bog wood? Sometimes if not properly cleaned they can have mico organisms that will multiply in your tank. Could also be nitrate... What are you level? Or could be mono cellular algae, is it green at all?

I got my bogwood from the LFS it was wrapped in plastic and I soaked it for 2 weeks before putting it in. My nitrate levels are currently 20-30 ppm and ammonia and nitrite are both 0. My tank isn't green yet.

I have a Penguin Bio-Wheel 150 Model, with two filter cartridges with carbon in them, a media bag full of cintered glass and carbon, and a bio-wheel. My filter is working absolutely fine and its made to filter out fish waste and for bacteria to do their job, not to filter out nearly atom-sized sand particles.

i would take the carbon out and then shove the floss in

do you mean out of the cartridge or the bag, because the carbon is built into the cartridge

just take the lot out. the floss will have a good bio surface like the glass.
