Hey All..

I wanted to test the quality of my water, so I went to Wal-Mart, and got the test strips. I got the one that tests the ammonia, and then the other ones that test 5 different thing, like Ph, Nitrate, Nitrite, and so on.

Well these stupid things dont work. When you put them in the water, the stupid tabs that are supposed to change color, so you can compair the readings, well they fall off in the tank..

So I need a new brand. I guess I'll have to get them offline, so if anyone can give me the name of brand or the ones you use, would be great.

Thanks

API (aquariam pharmaceuticals) are a good brand its what i use on my fresh water tanks)

I agree with Ian. API makes excellent test strips. I don't buy anything from Wal-Mart except food.

avoid the test strips get the liquid tests much more accurate

This may be true... but strips are cheaper (especially if you slice each one down the middle to make two per strip) and easier to use. I have ones that do nitrate, nitrite, pH, and two sorts of hardness all at once. 25 strips (50 tests after you slice them) doing all 5 tests at once for about 12 UKP. I find I use them much more often. So even if they are off a few percent, my feeling is that doing the tests more often compensates for that.

I guess what matters is that you do the tests at all... what kits you use is more a matter of choice and budget.

Cheers,

Neale
