Hi Everyone

Please could you advise me why the water of our saltwater aquarium keeps dropping? The water level had decreased by an inch in less than a week… is this normal? the salt level is perfect and the tempature is 25 degrees Celsius. The cycling of the tank isn’t quite finished yet and we added the cured live rock about 10 days ago. My girlfriend and I have checked the tank and there are no leaks that we can see.
thanks in advance

If you have an open top and hot overhead lights it could just be evaporation.

yea it is a open top. so its nothing to worry about then?

Unless you can physically find a leak, i would say its just evaporation too.

You've got heated water with hot lights above it, and if the room has been hot recently, that will have sped things up!

Keep an active eye for leaks if you are worried, but with a fully open top, i would bet its just normal.

You would just have to keep topping up your water. I live in a tropical country so I lose about 1cm of water every day :S

ok, thanks everyone. you were a great help. yea live in a topical country too. i will have to keep topping it up. thanks again for the help
