I was washing my tank outside with the hose, trying not to get water near the light, when the end flew off the hose and everything, including me, got drenched.
The light is in a clear plastic enclosure, but the water got in that. I have since worked out that the lid comes off (doh! ) so the tank is now setup, just lidless, which is fine for a while.
I haven't switched the light back on. The lid is covered in sand and could do with rinsing. Should I, seeing as it's wet through already?
Is it likely to be broken, or will it be OK if I just let it dry out?
Thanks for any tips :)

Thanks truck :) I'll rinse it and then let it dry out then :good:

Yes, make sure there is absoloutely NO water left in it when you turn it on, otherwise it will short circuit. I left a digital camera out in the rain over night once (Very irresponsible I know) And after a week or so on the radiator it was fine.

put it in sealable plastic bag with some rice and put it near a radiator, the rice absorbs the moisture.

ive used this method on latops, phones and mp3 players - worked every time

Once you get it as dry as you can naturally, then just apply the old hair-dryer trick to finish the drying task.

Thanks guys :good: I've rinsed the last of the sand off. Had to unscrew the clear cover-there was sand even in there! I'll try the rice and the hairdryer-make doubly sure :D
