Water Dechlorination

when doing a water change can i add the full required amount of dechlorinator straight to the tank prior to adding the tap water or do i need to add the required amount to each bucketfull as it goes in, this is what i am doing at the moment but it's a pain adding such a small amount to each bucket. many thanks in advance

Most here would say you can add it all after or before you put the water in, (put it all in the last bucket).
PS , nice motor, just sold my TDM last month.

I use a pond dechlorinater which needs only a very small amount, so I just put it in the first bucket and I've never had a problem. I do switch my filters off though so that, hopefully, I don't get any chlorinated water disrupting my filter bacteria before it's had a chance to mix.

I posted a similar question a couple of weeks ago. THe consensus was to add the full amount to the first bucket load, although opinion differs, as you'd expect.

best way to do the water change is..

lets say your tank is 400L,

fill 100L storege box with water . add de-co and havy metal remover. run a pond pump for 5 min.

take out 100L from your tank and pump ur treated water to your tank with ur pond pump.

storage box cost, 5, 6 pounds.
pond pump cost, 10, 15 pounds.
tubes costs, 3, 4 pounds.

look in your fishs face, priceless.
