I was originally using Kordon AmQuel Plus as water conditioner. I had bought a small bottle and only have enough left for about 1 - 2 water changes, which I am doing every other day since my tank is not cycled. Today I went to the pet store to buy more and the sells rep told me I should be buying water conditioner for bettas. After reading them they only remove chlorine and since I am getting a .5 nitrate reading out of the tap I would have to buy a second product.
The AmQuel plus removes both of these, as does Seachem Prime which are both 5.99 for a 4oz bottle of AmQuel and a 3.4 oz bottle of Prime, while the betta conditioner which would only take care of one part of the problem is 5.99 for 2oz and I would have to buy an additional product.
Is there really any difference in using betta conditioner than using the regular water conditioner, or was the sells rep just trying to get me to buy the more expensive product? If it is ok to use the regular with bettas does anyone have a recommendation between AmQuel or Prime? If its not ok can anyone give me a recommendation on a conditioner to remove the Nirtate?
Thanks!
