Hi,

After a spate of fish gill issues I decided to invest in some water conditioner...I had never used it before.

I bought some Nutrafin water conditioner Aqua Plus. It says on the bottle to use 10ml per 10 us gallons to remove chloramine and half that dose to remove chlorine. Now do I calculate the amount to use according to the water capacity of my tank or for the amount i change?

The capacity of my tank is 40 Us Gallons so every time i've been changing the water I've been adding 40 ml of water conditioner.

Is this right?

divide the total amound by 100, and then multiply by the persentage of water you are changing, for exaple;

50% change= 40ml/100*50=20ml

All the best

tbh, my usual method of measuring is to put a splash of dechlor in, small splash for a small tank, big splash for a big tank!!

that being said our water round here is pretty good quality and reliable, if for example your out in the sticks somewhere it's sensible to make sure you dose enough, Tolak often recommends double dosing when people are having inexplicable problems.
