Water Conditioner Post-Cycling

I have a fluval 1200, which comes with a 100ml bottle of Nutrafin Cycle and Aqua Plus. The bottles state 50 ml dose straight off, 50ml after a week, 25mil each week after, and with aqua plus 50ml when adding new fish.

I think you need to treat new water with a full dose when doing changes before it enters the tank, but other than that are these instructions sound? Is it really necessary to add Cycle/Aqua plus 25ml per week?

Should any other additives be used, or none at all?

IMO the Nutrafin Cycle is not necessary (ie, worthless). Once the tank is cycled, the only thing I add to it is dechlorinator during partial water changes.

Im in the same group as heresmike. The less chemicals in your tank the more stable the environment.

Not necessary at all. They're just trying to make you spend more money.

Yep, totally. I fell into that trap when I first got into fish keeping. All I use now is dechlorinator!!!! Unless I'm treating a disease!!
