Whenever I have my powerhead on, the Discus seem to stay at one end of the tank (underneath the powerhead) and only come out when it's feeding time.

When I have the powerhead off, they're always out swimming and really active!

How do I keep the low current requirement of Discus, but maintain good water circulation?

I dont have discus or know wot kind of powerhead you have but i use a fluval u4 internal in my community. I have it stuck to the left pane of glass and direct the flow past my heater on the back and into the right hand BACK corner of the tank until i get a slight swirling effect in the water. I still get good circulation but it slows the flow across the front of the tank and where the water swirls in the corner my smaller faster swimming fish like to play in the current.

The water current is probably too strong for them.
Discus and Angels prefer slower moving water.
