Water Changes

I still empty the tank by carrying a couple of buckets (I marked my tank to know how many litres)

But today I divised a wonderful, easy, and stressless way of refilling:

I bought a 30 litre bucket (with lid, optional but interesting) from a home brewers shop. The bucket is marked up the side with a litrage gauge. I asked the shop owner to fit me a tap to the bucket at low level, bought a length of 12mm hosing and I am off! (Total cost £18)

No longer do I have to cart buckets of water to refill! I have a cabinet beside my tank that is high enough for a tapped barrel, but too low to syphon...

I fill the new bucket with fresh water, it is gauged so I know exactly how much water treatment I need to add, the temperature is the same as in the tank, I treat the water, then turn the tap for a slow and sedate refill.

Additional note: In this instance, I am blessed by having a combination boiler, I have a hot and cold tap outside that are mains fed, therefore I can hose from either and neither supplies come from storage tanks. I use a hose from the exterior mains fed hot and cold tap to fill the bucket, I then treat it, then I open the tap to refill the tank :)

well i use RO water so i have a bucket and some tubing.

U should add the dechlorinator to the tank and slowly add the water so that the temperature diff isn't too big. adding water is the hard part u could use the tap or u could use a lot of buckets and put them above the tank and get a slow siphon going. or like me get a pump to move the water.
