i am coming close to finishing my fishless cycle and was wondering once i have fish in the tank, im planning a 25-35% PWC a week, but how will i be able to get the temp. of the water i will be putting in, the same temp. as the tank? just fiddling with the tap for a bit, adding hot then cold? until its the right temp. also will i have to de-chlorinate it while its inside the bucket or once its in the tank. i am still a beginner with some knowlodge and experience but dont want to mess up.

Thanks :)

what i do with mine is try to match the temperature as closely as possible by hand and then de-chlorinate it in the bucket, leave it 5/10mins and then add to the tank

okay thanks :) youve saved me a heck of a lot of head scratching  :p

What I do:
Add the aqua+ solution to the first bottle or bucket of new water, then after that straight tap water...

Not sure if its the best way, but it has worked for me so far...

What your find alot of people do including myself is turn off your filter, connect a hose directly to your hot and cold tap, get the temp about right, then add directly to the tank. Add dechlor directly to the tank as its filling up ( enough for the whole volume of the tank )
This totally removes the need for lugging around buckets. Once your tank is full up, leave for 10 mins then switch your filter back on. Bobs your uncle, Job done effortlessly.
Perfectly safe and like i said your find a majority of experienced fishkeepers perform water changes this way:)

I never even waited 10 min after filling up. I turn the filters back on when the tank is full and never had a problem. I do the same to the cherry shrimp tank.

It's good to be careful. My tap water appears quite safe but I guess no everyone's water is the same.

Prepare the water with dechlorinator and stuff and leave it for a day. I don't worry about temp or ph. :)

Leave it for a day? Lol I've always filled buckets with hand felt temperature water, added prime, and put straight in. Then turn filter back on. No waiting about rubbish.

^ lol, me too!

I have eight tanks running atm; if I kept water hanging round for 24 hours before water changes, I'd never get through them, or have any space to walk about!

I change 350 litre of water a week between my tanks. I am yet to find a suitable bucket to store my water for 24 hrs

Lol Leaving water for 24 hours is a very old fashioned method before dechlor as people used to believe that chlorine would gas off within this time making it safe to add to the aquarium. Now we have excellent dechlors such as Prime, there really is no need to leave buckets of water hanging around for 24 hours, it doesn't achieve anything.
