Hi all

need some help. For about the past month, whenver i have done my 155 weekly water change, for about the next 48 hours all my fish will always be at the top looking like they need air. All my stats are perfect. The tank has been running for 9 months now and i have only just noticed this int he last month.

what coud be causing this and what can i do as it doesnt look right

thanks

matt

what percentage of the tank are you doing as a water change. do you have much flow or oxygen going into the tank. you should be doing a 20 to 30% water change weekly.

typo on first post. its normally 15-20 %. im placing hte flow of filter to go directly to the centre of the tank

aimt the filter outlet at the water surface so it cause little "waves" or ripples this surface agitation will allow more oxygen to enter the water

Whilst they may need more oxygen and the suggestion already are good, it doesnt make sense it happens straight after a water change.

Do you dechlorinate your water? Have you tested your tap water for ammonia, nitrIte and nitrAte and ph? Have you tested the tank water prior to and immediately after the change? Are you temperature matching the water returning to the tank or using only cold to re-fill?

i use api stress coat for whenever i change water. have tested water staright fromtap but not for some time. tested water before and after and stats are almost identical. i try to temperature match but its never perfect.

sounds like youre doing your water chsnges fine. could just be low oxygen levels. hopefully the extra surface agitation will sort it . :good:
