Hi all,

Being a bit of a newbie at this, I would value your input here what I could improve on, or what things I could do to make my life simpler. (apart from keeping a goldfish!)

Currently, every 2 weeks I fill up 4 x 10 litre buckets with water on Saturday, and set them asside near a radiator to get to a warmer temp.
On Sunday, I siphon off about 30% of the water, and fill with buckets I had set asside. Plus one which I fill directly from the tap. (the bucket used with the siphoned water)
I then add the tap-safe mixture and the PH adjustment powder for the 50 liters I had added.

Thanks it.

Now I see that some of you do up to 40% change, which in my circumstatnces, thats 72 litres, which is a heck of a lot! :S
Now most of you being enthusiasts at this, probably have some filteration beds etc etc system running, but is there any way I could cope with that amount?

Currently, my tank is in th eliving room, no where near a tap.

Cheers

D.

hi,i empty 40% of my tank water, then,go in to the bathroom, put my large bucket in the bath under the tap.then,i add hot and cold water at the same time, put some dechlorinator in,go down stairs and put it in the tank carefully.a water change is done in 10 mins.always done it this way and never had a problem.

unless your faucet is so far away it is impossible, why on earth dont you two use a PYTHON system?
I do w/c's on my 110, 55, 55, 48 all in aprox an hour! thats draining off 30% or more and using same temp as the tanks with PRIME put directly in the tank at refill time.

I used to use the 3 & 5 gallon buckets until I got smart!!! lol
it makes such a huge difference in timing, vaccuming, refilling you'll wonder how you ever got along with out it.

you can even make your own!!!!

Sounds a great idea, trouble is that I will have to drill through my wall to get to the garage, were my cold water and drainage points are. (that method I will have to get permission...)

Does the unit take up much space?

Whats the cost?

the unit is esentialy a hose that runs from the tank to your tap/drain...

so it dosent take up much space at all...

no windows?, i've been known in the summer to pop off the screen, put the hose out in the garden and water the plants. they come in 100 foot , 50 foot and extensions to boot!!!
theres always a way!

I was given mine but the 50 ft runs $25 US I believe.
Next time your in a home and improvement store, like Lowes etc. go to the garden dept and or the plumbing dept, you could very well make your own to fit your own needs for much less!

IMAGINATION
IS
KEY! :D
