Hi everyone !
Iam about to change my tank into an EI fully planted system. But i have come up with some questions that i was hoping that some of you guys could help me with. The ph of my tap water is around 7.5 and if my tank is going to be running at around 7.0 - 6.8 then my concern was with the fluctuation each week when i do a water change. What shall i do? should i add those ph adjusters or is it no point? I was thinking maybe in the future of getting a ph controller and if i just added the tap water then the co2 would turn itself on until it reached the preset level, or is this idea a no go? How do you guys do your water changes? Any help on the matter would alleviate this headache that i have :X .
Many thanks

Don't add extra chemicals... it'll be more of a pain in the long run.

You dont't really need to worry about the fluxuation from a water change. The pH swings quite a bit during the day anyway, when the lights go on and off. That much of a drop isn't going to be bad for your fish. I go from tap water of 7.6 to 6.4 after the co2 changes it, and have never had any problems.

It was one of my biggest conserns when i first started my tank, personaly i use r/o water, because my tap water has a PO4 reading of 5 to 7ppm, and i,m use to using it with my discus, i prefer it as its more controlably and stable.

Like Jen says don't use and chems to ajust your water inparticular one's that use phosphate buffers as they can mess with the PH/KH relationship
and give you false co2 readings but it has to be said this is with high PO4 readings.

Thanks for your help with my questions , but can you tell me what are the best and most accurate test kits to use for the PO4 readings and KH ?

Thanks again .

Nutrafin for PO4 and I find the AP tests for KH,NO3 etc to be pretty good
