Hi

My molly just gave birth to 52 fry and I placed these at a 15Gall bucket, but I have no idea on how to do water changes with the gravel vacuum because I'm afraid I might get some of the fry sucked up on the syphon. What do you guys use??? How frequently???

btw, this bucket it's still not cycled and I was thinking on placing the sponge filter I just made inside the tank that has the UGF but I'm not sure how long will there be enough bacteria for me to use at the fry bucket
Also, the other tank has an Underwater filter, so I could probably use the bacteria at the Filter media, but I have no idea how to do this either :/ any ideas???

I use air line tubing for vaccing the bottom & water changes on fry tanks. If you just want to do a water change, put a small piece of sponge over the end of the tubing, nobody will get sucked up. I do 50% daily for the first few weeks on angel fry.

Take a small handful of mature gravel, put it on top of the sponge filter in the fry bucket. It will pretty much give you a cycled filter.

Just my warped mind thinking, "fry bucket" sounds like a kitchen appliance.

thanks for your advice

btw yes... "fry bucket" sounds like fry chicken or something  but it was that "rubbermaid container" or a 5 Gallon spare tank.

or you could put a breeder net's net over the end of a vaccuum. that would be alittle faster than airline tubing...

thanks mlee0332

actually I used a sponge at the end of the syphon instead of using the air tubing 'cause it took too long. But the breeder net its a good idea as well
