Hey, i seriously need to do a water change asap but am out of tap safe until its delivered (from ebay anyday now) my stats are all high, fiah seem fairly happy but always perk up when I change water (been doing 30-40% daily).

Basically I ballsed up, a mate gave me a load of stuff (pumps filter heater substarte etc) from when he had jaguar cichlids, I set my tank up with all that in it and started adding stress zyme which as you know is also tap conditioner. after having it running for a week i presumed (wrongly) that there would be enough bacteria left in the substrate and filter media from his fish to add some of my own so I added the 3 cory and 1 shark, then waited a few more days before adding the gibbi and loaches, then a week after that added my mollies. however, a day after first adding corys and shark the power ball filter bust so I had to go out and buy a new elite stingray filter (was cheapest as im broke) so im guessing that ballsed up my bacteria if there was any there at all!!
Now I have 15 molly fry too and my gibbi is laying poo like silly string from a can!!

So.......HELP lol

all the fish seem happy and im keping up with testng and water changes and only feedgin a pinch of flakes and a couple algae wafers a day but just need to know if its fairly safe to use untreated tap water as a temp measure for my change?

sorry to keep posting im now addicted to this forum and to my fish lol so im desperate to gather as much info as poss

I'm not entirely sure but i have read on another thread that if you leave tap water to stand it will dechlorinate itself over time anyway.
Sorry i can't be more specific but i'm sure someone will come along and give you a better answer soon enough

xXx

You can boil the water to remove impurities. There are a ton of thread on it in the forum.
I know its maybe a hassle, and or time consuming, but its better than nothing. Good Luck

Do you have any friends that might have some you can borrow?

thanks think i might boil a load up and let it stand over night, then if my dechlorinator does not arrive by mid morning I will use what I boiled up.....

oh and thanks for the kisses bubbles lol :hyper:
