Every time I do a water change I add stress coat... is this a good idea? Does anyone else add something different?

Also, my vacuum for the gravel has black stuff in the tubing... I dont know if its dirt or mold.... anyone else have this? Should I be worried about getting it out?

You can add stress coat, it works as a dechlor, and helps replace slime coat. I use Prime, it's a better dechlorinator than stress coat, costs less.

The ugly tubing can be cleaned by putting a length of string through the tubing & tying a piece of rag to the end & pulling it through. I rinse mine with tap water after using, slows the growth of slimy crud.

Yes it is very good you are adding stresscoat- its basically another type of dechlorinator and dechlorinator is vital for a healthy tank  although i can't realy help you with the black stuff in your gravel vac- its probably just mould of some sort and washing it in boiling water will kill it off.
