Watched The Most Amazing Thing This Afternoon.....

Put my female guppie in the breeding net today, she was fat square and I think I saw a birthing tube, switched all the tank lights off, went to check on her a couple of hours later and saw about 6 fry, then saw some more being born, it is the first time not only that I have guessed right that my female will give birth but also the first time I actually saw them being born.I have no idea how many there are as every time I start to count they all go swimming off, mummy guppie is back in the tank and doing great.

I really don't know what has made me more excited, the fact that I finally guessed on my own that she was about to drop or the fact that I watched them being born. They are now in the fry tank with the ones that were born last week...

It's the most amazing thing to watch them being born isn't it?!

My guppy dropped close to 100 fry a while back now and I watched nearly all of them being born and wondered when she was going to stop!
I think she's getting ready to do it all again aswell!

Yep - they don't call em 'millions fish' for nowt lol

I counted 75 I think and she ate a few and a few escaped the breeding box through the slots. I think most of the fish books say around 50-80 is normal but they can have more

Fab stuff!! I've had a couple of I think they're close mements recently & got home from work or up the next day to fry, it's amazing!!

Really hope to actually watch one of mine birthing at some stage too

I have another 2 females that are expecting, but they are not yet squaring off so think I have some breathing room.The female yesterday had about 25 fry and the same from the female last week, both were first drops.This will be my first lot of fry bread at home so will be quite interesting to try and guess who the daddy was.

Yes it did, and it helped that it was the perfect excuse to stop doing boring housework...lol.
