I am making this post because I don't know what else to do, I am so so sad.

Last night, I helped my boyfriend to change some water to his tanks, and I guess an albino corrie jumped out of the tank and he didn't notice (his eyesight is poor). When I saw the little guy on the hardwood floor, it must have been - 30 minutes - later or more. He was hard and dry, eyes clouded, and I was sure he was dead, until I squeezed him lightly and felt a single thrash. Against all odds, the little corrie was somehow still alive, but suffering terribly and bone dry.

I put him in the water and he began breathing, faintly and then rapidly as his gills slowly softened. He made a few efforts at swimming, but lost energy quickly and weakened. I could tell he was now blind. He lost his painful battle for life during the night. What a terrible, sad end.

PLEASE - owners of CORRIES - WATCH YOUR TANKS and CHECK after you open your lid to make sure they don't jump out. It was so horrible to see this little corrie go through such a painful, sad death. Corrie jump deaths are ENTIRELY PREVENTABLE! Let's do our job to keep our little sweeties safe in the tank. :(

Ah that's sad. :rip: Thanks for the warning. I tend to be in and out of the room during weekly water changes and maintenance. Not anymore!
