I have six neon tetras, 5 are fine but one of them has a big growth thing on his mouth i have been waching him and seems to be eating ok and nothing else is wrong with him. :shout: :shout:

right well he's probably got mouth rot which is caused by poor water quality, physical damage, when other fish have previusly been unwell, or when new fish that havent been quarentined properly and harmful bacteria has entered the tank,
have you added any new fish at all, or has the fish had any damage to it at all, what are your water stats?

does the fish have clamped fins? does the fish have any small grey or white marks on the mouth, head, gills or body?

have you by any chance also got a pic of him?

sorry for all the questions, just helping...i hope ;)

Thank you..

I checked the water and it was fine, i have a cown loach aswell and he had white spot but its gone, now he is fine, i also have two platy's and the male platy is horrible he chases the neons around dont know if that has anything to do with it, also the platys have been acting very quiet lately they just been sitting around in the plants. I have tried to get a photo but cant, i had another look at his mouth it seems bigger and its like a bubble and he cant close his mouth properly. Thank you

We need exact stats for water please, some people get sadly misinformed aout how "fine" their water is.

What is your tank size?

I'm not sure but i think clown loaches need a school and i know they get big and need alot of room.

Have you changed any water lately and did you use dechlorinator?

Will help any way i can.

Are thank you, its got worse my platy has (i think) got white spot and its just had baby fish and the clown loach has eaten them (i know thats normal but sad)

i dont understand though because i check the water all the time and the temp is right,

well just tested water and its about 7.5-8.5, and when i changed the water i did use dechlorinator

Im a bit worried about the clown loach now not being in a school, i was unsure to, but when i got it the man in the shop said they are ok on there own?

My tank is about 50gal i hope its not over crouded i have 6 neons, 2 platys and 1 clown loach
