During weekly maintenance I suddenly had the urge to check the water temp. I don't know why I checked, as I pretty much never do. To my surprise it was only 22 celcius. The heater was not working. Turned out to be a blown fuse. Luckily I have a large tank so the temp drop is very slow. Had it been a 30 gallon I'm sure the fish would have died. It could have been broken for a couple of days.

Go on, check your temp!

26 degrees celcius. All fine. But I check my temperature every couple of hours, so nothing to worry about.

I check my temp everytime I look at the tank as all my tanks have two thermometers; a glass one inside at the back and a sticky one on the outside at the front, one at either end :)

That could've been devastating if you've never gone to check the temperature.
My tank's temperature is a-ok. :)

My tank's temp was around 78*, last time I checked (a few hours ago, when I fed the fish and tucked 'em in for the night). I put the heater in yesterday, set it to 76*. Watched it awhile, it was okay. Checked back later (after class or something like that) and the temp was up to 80* and the heater was still on :/ Mayhaps it's time for a new heater, eh?

Thanks for the reminder, though! While you're checking your heater/thermometers, check your drip-loops too!

28.4C, I use a digital thermometer and always keep an eye on it.
I have heater with digital read out, always can take a glance. Then have thermometer that I double check temp every once in a while :D

76.5 using a digital temp

yeah, that happened to me a few weeks ago, not only did my heater break, but my old thermometer broke as well. By the time that I could get everything back together, the temp dropped to 69 (!) If i had waited another day, my fish would have been dead for sure.

ahh my temp was at 70F thats a little low for my community!

its weird all of you gave one temperater, i know alot of you have more than one tank. haha maybe you just averaged them all.

My tanks have little sticker thermometer things that came with them, and always read between 78 and 81 degrees F :D
...Which is good, since I don't actually heat them. The lights are enough to keep them nice and toasty.

In regards the LED Temps stuck on the glass. I know from experience these 1. Wear out, 2. stop working.

If you have multiple tanks, just buy one of the cheap Digitals (about $6-$9 depending on where you go) and check them for accuracy occasoinally.

Bad thing when one of those goes bad. :/
