Wanting To Set Up Tetra Tank.

Is it a good idea to put a shoal of different tetras in a tank with cherry shrimp?
so far got cherry shrimp.

Im going to get a shoal of about 6 neons.
And gonna try get other types

if the fish cant fit the shrimp in their mouths then the shrimp should be safe. Neons will be ok.....just dont expect any baby shrimp to survive with fish in the tank.

As I said, the adult shrimps should be fine with neons, but even if you have some java moss it's unlikely that any babies will avoid the attentions of the fish.

It is very mature tank so is the filter.

Ill look into putting that info on.

I am not sure what you are looking for. It sounds as if you want to mix different tetras together in 1 shoal? Or do you want several shoals each with their own tetra species? If the first is the case, remember that different species won't shoal. And in the latter case, I personally think that a bigger shoal of 1 species looks much better than different shoals of different species. Unless you have a large tank, but even so, I once saw a tank with over a 100 neons and it looked wonderful.

I mean a shoal of 6 tetras, but a group of 4 different tetras. so altogether 24 possablly

If they are going in the 10 gallon thats on your signature , it might be tight, had a 20 gallon long with 14 Lemon Tetra with 6 Black Phantom Tetra and some Amano Shrimp It worked but not sure how many in a 10 gallon, I can understand why you want cherry shrimp, the first time I saw them was yesterday in LFS and they look lovely, cool choice, let us know what you decide and how you get on

No, if it is the 10 gallon, only 1 shoal will fit in. One thing is the bioload, another one is the swimming space.
