I was curious as to any information on building a tank instead of buying one.
My hopes/plans are for a 155G tank with these dimensions: 15"H x 24"W x 100"L.
I want a short tank because of my ADF's, who I am to salvage eggs and tadpoles from at some point and continue this particular pairs genes, and I know anything over 15" tall will make it difficult for them to reach the surface.

Any suggestions, possible price estimates, etc? It won't happen anytime soon due to money and my lack of time to spend on the actual project (I'm a poor college student still living at home with mommy and daddy). It'll probably be another 4 to 6 years before it is even started.

Should I use glass or acrylic for the body? What kind of wood would be best to use for the stand? What brand canister filter do you suggest? How many overflow tanks, heaters, etc?

I don't know where in the world you are but in the UK the cost of glass is quite high - close enough to the cost of a tank as to make it not really worthwhile to DIY.

If you are looking to keep costs down you might be better looking for a second hand tank

I'm not worried about the cost, since I have plenty of time to save up for it. I don't want a second hand tank, I want to build my own using the specific dimensions I stated in order to have a large tank like I want, but accommodate my favorite aquatic amphibian.
