Wanting to add cichlid to community tank

I've recently been interested in severums and festivums. Currently, I have a 65 gallon that I would like to add either or to. It currently has various livebearers, danios, and neons. I know the neons would definately be moved to another tank. My real question is are these cichlids possible community fish in the first place? As usual, I read conflicting reports. How many gallons would a severum or festivum need for it's territory? 20 gallons? Are there any other larger cichlids (besides angels) that might work in this community setting? Would the mollys, platys, danios, ect. just be food for the larger cichlid?

The mollys should be ok with a Festium but not a Severum, i also wouldnt trust dainos with a festium as well. A 65g is fine to have both of these cichlids in there +more but im afraid the danios will be feeder fish.

i dont think a sevrum could swallow any of yur fish besides neons but it could certainly beat the crap out of them

My severum loves to eat neon sized (Usually bigger) pieces of krill, and he's only 5" long!

my sev eats 1.5 inch crickets and hes only 3 inches long!

firemouths would go great with mollies and platys but the danios would most likely be eaten eventually. I'm not sure what's available at any lfs close to you, but other Thorichthys species would also work, as well as some of the smaller Cryptoheros species like sajica, spilurum or honduran red points. again, I wouldn't trust any of these with danios unless they're giant danios.
