Morning! (Well in California anyway.)

I've just really enjoyed my little apisto caratuoides. They are doing the spawning jig. So fun to watch my rather oafish male try to impress a very coy female. So I'm taken by these dwarfs and was looking into more. On aquabid I found a guy in Oregon who has pairs of Latacara dorsiger and Apistogramma hongsloi Rotstrich. Any thoughts on these two species?

Of the L. dorsiger the breeder says, " This color form is the German "Violet" color form-really beautiful! " Does anyone know much about this German form of this South American fish? Anyone have a photo? Quite honestly I'm just wondering if this is another way of saying they are not as colorful as you would expect so lower your expectations. His pictures are interesting but not that high quality.

How does the L. dorsiger compare with L. curviceps in color and personality? I just have never seen the curviceps available anywhere.

Thanks folks.

just sounds like something the breader is calling them theres no info anywhere for l. dorsiger german violet so im pressuming thats the colour he considers them to be l.dorsigera is also known as the red breasted acara and in my opinion is the better looking out of itself and l.curviceps
also if your intending on adding the fish to your tank with the apistogramma then you would be best to go with the acara rather than the hongsloi from an agression point of view and the fact that the acara are an open spawning fish apposed to the apisto which are cavity brooders

Excellent advice. That is what I need. How would the hongsloi do in a tank with bolivian rams do you think?
