then she would beat the crap outta me *kidding*

You're 13 aren't you? :/
Yes this thread should be locked. Bret has been reprimanded enough I think and it's better that people simply should not respond to his threads in future if you find them offensive or have issues with his past deceptions.
Sorry Bret but I wouldn't trust you to look after my rubber duck. You seriously need to concentrate on growing up & spending time with friends, not breeding fish. Come back to them once you've lived a little. :) At least that way we can all remain on civilised terms and have you as a welcome member of the various forums that you attend.

I'm 13 too D= calling me untrustworthy?

Certainly not hon!! Being 13 doesn't make you less able if you have a mature head on your shoulders. But not all 13 yr olds do. I know I didn't at that age. :look: On such occassions I think it better that they concentrate on the more average pursuits of young teens. ;) I have a son who turns 11 in two days and there is no way I would trust him with any of my fish yet my 8 yr old daughter advised my Father on feeding them when I was away in hospital for a week. So it does vary greatly with each individual, and you have never given me rise to think less of you for being younger and hope I have never treated you with any less respect then someone twice or three times your age. :)

nicely put Miss Dib Dabs, it does depend on the maturity of the individual

I don't know anything about Bret, so I'll stay out of that. I also feel it's wrong for some of you to call him a "bad person" and then openly admit that you don't know him. It is so unfair to be judged based on the past & based on perceptions. Get to know a person yourself if you want to judge them. -_-

As far as age goes, I do feel that MOST kids under 16 in MOST situations aren't going to be able to properly devote the time, money, effort and maturity involved in spawning Bettas or keeping many. I don't feel that anyone under 16 should have the full responsibility for any animal. My reasons aren't all because of maturity, that is lacking in people of any age. I just feel that being in Junior High and starting in High School is stressful enough and very time-consuming. Not to mention, very few 12 to 14 year-olds have a steady job, none have a car, few have reliable transportation... and breeding/selling/keeping Bettas does cost money, even one spawn. I am 17 myself, and I balance all of my friends, school (college now), my job, my family, other hobbies, my dogs, and Bettas, which is hard enough! I couldn't do it if I didn't have a car to drive 2 hours to get last-minute meds or fry food, or a card to order supplies online, or money to pay for the tons I spend on food and water treatments alone. So, yeah. If you are successfully spawning and under 16, you probably have parents who don't mind spending money on you and you have plenty of time/rides.

OT, but, you're for real 15 Willtang? > that is awesome. I aspire to raise Bettas like yours, and I'm 2 years older!

iam 13 hehe iam lucky i was breeding since i was 6 and have such a great dad he is always behind me cause when he was my age he knew what it was like not having anyone behind him helping and that i just wanted to be a good influence on the younger ones altho i think iam one of the youngest here

I thought you said you had heatmats bret? Or do you use a "blowheater" as you call it. What temp is the tank at various times of the day? If the fish are in this cuboard, do they have lighting? Do they get fresh air in there, or is it totall sealed to get in heat?

Brets young and I know he's done not amazing things in the past. But we should be helping him improve by advising him how to keep his bettas better.

Can we start a clean slate with bret please? It doesnt matter what age you are though bret, thats just an excuse for some people. "Well so and so is young" dont give a c**p what age people are, they know how to behave etc etc etc.

You bret promise to be honest and do the whole betta thing seriously (ie no giving up easily cos you fancy geckos now :p ) time will teach you that making money aint gunna happen. Its a sad fact. We will try to give you a bit of a chance to explain yourself rather than biting your head off.

You've been making an effort recently to offer help to people in need, which is admirable. Unfortunately your reputation is kinda poor. The more you do things like this, and it turns out you are doing it out of the goodness of your heart, more people will believe in you.

It will take time to build yourself back up mate, but I'm sure if you really want it to, you'll make it happen!
