Want To Set Up My Spare Tank

I have a spare tank which I would like to set up as a hospital/quarantine. Do I set this up and leave everything running or wait if I need it. It's approx 5g can I put water straight out of my tank, spare has filter/heater thanks

IMO keeping everything on (except the light) is best. You might be able to turn off the filter and leave the heater on because it takes time to heat water and not so long to turn on a filter.

What most people do is keep the quar filter running on their main tank, this keeps it cycled. Leave the quar tank where you plan on using it, just empty. When you need to use it, fill it with water of the proper temperature, add dechlor, filter, heater, & fish.

I do this all the time, most every tank I own has multiple filters.
